Oakley
This hot and happening place is becoming an upscale residential neighborhood with a nice selection of affordable, older brick and frame houses on tree-lined streets. Row houses and mid-sized condos are adding to the housing options. A $17.3-million development expected to be completed in Fall 2007 features 20 Luxury condos. Its business district offers specialty shops, galleries and fine restaurants, including BOCA, Kona Bistro, Habits and the new IHOP. Aglamesis Ice Cream Parlor, opened in 1913, is here; as is the 20th Century Theater, popular side for concerts and special events. Oakley's new Fresh Market is drawing crowds; as is its Cincinnati Center, housing Target, Sam's and Meijer, PetSmart and Circuit City. Other nearby shopping includes Hyde Park Square, Hyde Park Plaza, Rookwood Pavilion and Rookwood Commons. Once a popular coach stop, Oakley, founded in 1852 under the name Four Mile, was incorporated in 1898 and annexed to the city in 1913.
